World Customs Organization signs MoU with Kuwait to establish regional Training Center

In Line of Global Clearing and Customs partnership World Customs Organization signs MoU with Kuwait to establish regional Training Center In light of the partnership and strategic cooperation between Global Clearing House Systems Company and the General Administration of Customs – Kuwait, the World Customs Organization and the State of Kuwait signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the establishment of the organization’s regional training center in Kuwait and its certification as a customs training center for North Africa, Near and Middle East.

On this matter, Dr. Cuneu Mikuria, Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, stated to Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA), that signing the memorandum of understanding comes in recognition and appreciation to the role of Kuwait Customs, clarifying that the regional center in Kuwait will be used for training and meetings to provide technical assistance and other customs-related activities.

In a similar statement to KUNA, Vice President of the Organization, Sheikh Ahmed Al Khalifa, expressed his pleasure in attending the signing of the MoU which affirms the organizations’ recognition of Kuwait’s Training Institute as a certified and accredited regional center to be an addition to the organization in the region. He emphasized that obtaining the international accreditation and transforming into a regional center will add value, credibility and support to the center in the upcoming phase.

Mr. Jamal Al Jalawi pointed out that the center will have an international strategic and operational action plan in training, confirming that through the signed MoU, the State of Kuwait will be marked on the map of international customs.

It is worth noting that the strategic plan aims to work on the development of the Kuwaiti General Administration of Customs human resources and preparing national customs expertise that are able to contribute effectively in the implementation of development plans. Whereby both the General Administration of Customs and Global Clearing House Systems worked to build the capabilities of workers in the customs field to spread awareness, enhance knowledge about customs culture, acuminate the skills and competencies of customs officials and work partners and consolidating the concept of business partnership between the different customs departments and commercial business partners. In addition, the construction infrastructure has also been advanced and all means of information technology have been provided to prepare an effective smart work environment at the customs institute, through which it can be used to develop the competencies of employees of the General Administration of Customs, manage and transfer knowledge to contribute in the implementation and development of global customs initiatives.

In conclusion, Dr. Cuneu Mikuria, Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, praised the great resources of the Kuwaiti Customs to support the organization’s efforts in providing assistance to its members. With the participation of both the General Administration of Customs officials and business partners, these resources which will be devoted to implement the training programs in support of the strategic plan which in return will contribute to the overall improvement of the customs work performance and enhance individuals’ knowledge, skills and creativity.
